The BRICS AI Financial Platform

The publication "Implementation of artificial intelligence: the public financial platform of the BRICS AI" has been published

The publication "Implementation of artificial intelligence: the public financial platform of the BRICS AI" has been published (https://financetp.fa.ru/jour/article/view/4177) by Senior Research Fellow of the International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration M. Yudina in collaboration with K.Chetti, N. Gopal, D.Josi, V.Wen, I.Yarygina. The article presents the result of a comprehensive study of the potential of the BRICS countries in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) to create a common financial platform. Artificial intelligence is considered in the work as a factor in expanding cooperation between the BRICS countries in the financial sector. Based on a methodological combination of structured approaches, including, in particular, elements of the PRISMA method, the aim of the study is to develop measures to stimulate the introduction of AI into the emerging BRICS interstate financial platform.

The publication was a logical continuation of the work of the group that had previously proposed its AI project for inclusion as part of the Think20 submission. Think20 is the official G20 engagement group that serves as a "bank of ideas" for the G20, bringing together think tanks and high-level experts to discuss policy issues relevant to the G20.Yudina, co-authored by K.Chetty, N. Gopal, D.Josi, V.Wen, and I.Yarygina proposed to invest and launch artificial intelligence-oriented data and computing centers in developing countries, equipped with the necessary equipment to support mass access to a publicly available artificial intelligence platform, in order to increase the computing power of the G20. This infrastructure can be creatively powered by green energy in line with the G20 environmental and climate goals. Read more in the lab news: https://digitlab.hse.ru/news/904857192.html

In the 2026 publication, the task of the research group was to uncover the existing country inequality in the use of artificial intelligence in the BRICS. It is concluded that it is necessary to develop and implement a joint public AI platform in order to increase consumer access to general and specialized information, as well as to ensure equal use of data in all member countries. It was noted that the artificial intelligence platform should be organized in such a way as to ensure compliance with the principles of data sovereignty. In order to solve the tasks set, mechanisms and international strategies for introducing artificial intelligence into the BRICS public financial platform are proposed. A project of this level requires not only funding, but also dedicated experts, as well as the use of open source software tools. These questions are of considerable interest for further research.
